A Wall Of Protection

A Wall Of Protection

Last week, I experienced many different emotions because of things happening around me. I felt overwhelmed and kept praying to God, asking what I should do. At one point, I heard a clear voice reminding me of a Bible passage, 2 Kings 6:8-18. This passage tells the story of a king named Aram. He wanted to capture Israel, but he was failing miserably because God was warning the king of Israel through the prophet Elijah. As a result, the king of Israel was always on guard.

King Aram grew frustrated and demanded to know the identity of the traitor who had been revealing their locations. The officers informed him that it was the prophet Elijah. Enraged, the king ordered Elijah’s capture. Consequently, the army surrounded the town of Dothan. Elijah’s servant, terrified by the situation unfolding around him, exclaimed, “What shall we do?” Elijah calmly replied, “Don’t be afraid,” “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

There was a wall of protection around Elijah. Now as the army came towards Elijah, Elijah prayed once more. “As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, “Strike this army with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked.”

The Lord reminded me that there is a wall of protection around you, yet you feel overwhelmed. This brings me back to the Passover that the Israelites observed before the Lord struck down the firstborn of the Egyptians. The Israelites took some of the blood from the Passover lamb and spread it on the top and sides of their doorframes. When the time came, the blood protected them from harm.

Similarly, Jesus shed his precious blood for us, and that blood is what we are to cling to at this point. The blood of Jesus will act as a wall of protection around us, our family, and our belongings.

Next, Elijah prayed for the army to be struck with blindness. God reminded me that the next wall of protection is blindness to those who oppose us. Just as we still have people like the Egyptians around us, we often forget the God we serve. We serve a powerful and mighty God, yet we take all the problems on ourselves and leave God out of it.

When God reminded me of this passage, I was surprised. Why was he asking me to say this prayer? Then I realized that I was overwhelmed with all the things happening around me. So I prayed, “Lord, you know that things happening around me and the people around me are not good right now. Please hide me and my family and strike those people with blindness.”

It actually worked, and God did not strike them with real blindness; instead, He hid us from them. When you feel overwhelmed by certain people, such as bullies at your workplace, school, college, or even within your family, simply pray this small prayer. They will try to attack us, but they will not overcome us because God has surrounded us with His mighty army. At the right moment, God will conceal you, or the hurtful words they speak will have no effect on you. Without a doubt and fear, pray this prayer. Whatever the outcome, praise God.

The hardest part came next. As Elijah had told him to, the King of Israel gave the army food and water and sent them back to their leader. After that, the groups from Aram stopped raiding Israel’s land for a while.

Now, the most difficult part for us is to not seek revenge. God gave the entire enemy army to Israel’s king, and he was eager to kill them. However, he was instructed not to take action, but to provide them with food and water and send them away.

Revenge is easy, but let us not resort to it. We will leave that aspect in the hands of our God and continue doing good to those who harm us. I found it very challenging to write this, but it is what the word of God says. Obedience surpasses all else, and once we believe in and obey God’s word, we will be exalted to higher places. He will surely prepare a feast for us in the presence of our enemies.

What could be more satisfying than our enemies or bullies seeing us in a position they never imagined possible? We serve a powerful and mighty God. Let us offer up big prayers and ask God to provide us with a protective wall each day, for each day brings new opportunities and blessings. Let us entrust our bullies into God’s hands, and He will guide us perfectly every day.

If God has the power to transform a humble shepherd boy into a mighty king, then we can trust that He can also bring about significant changes in our own lives at the appropriate time. Until that moment arrives, let us seek refuge under His protective hands and diligently follow the instructions He has given us.
