I picked this book on a lightning deal and not much interest Nathan showed. Last week his school taught him a rhyme about traffic lights and asked him to make a traffic light activity. I used this opportunity and reintroduced this book, and he enjoyed it.

The rainbow crossing talks about road safety, zebra crossing and traffic light. A little boy called Avi is out to buy dried figs for his grandpa. But, he couldn’t cross the road. Nor can an old couple. While they wait patiently for the vehicles to rush past, a young Art student comes to their rescue. How did he help people cross the road?

Children will find the text simple and the scenes are very relevant to urban India. The author made a list of questions to discuss with the kids about the road and what we should do while crossing the road. We enjoyed reading this together. A simple book to read with a preschooler.
