REVIEW: PRESS HERE BY HERVE TULLET

BOOK NAME: PRESS HERE

AUTHOR & ILLUSTRATOR: HERVE TULLET

PUBLISHER: CHRONICLE BOOKS

PAGES: 56

AGE RECOMMENDED: 2+

PRESS HERE opens with a yellow dot and instructions to press the dot and turn the page. Now, there are two dots. Press again, and there are three! Now tap each dot five times: it multiplies. Readers are prompted to press dots, tilt and shake the book, blow on the pages, and clap their hands—the dots multiply, change colours, swirl, and expand. The pace quickens and the excitement builds until it’s time to bring it all back to that simple yellow dot and then play again.

A clever interactive book that introduces counting, colour mixing, directions(left-right), patterns, sequence, and position. Nathan enjoys this book so much that it’s a constant bedtime read for us. He laughs so hard and loves following instructions on each page. This is such a fun, interactive book and you will always enjoy this read.

Tap the yellow dot five times

This page says tap the colour yellow five times and when you turn the page you can see five yellow dots. I sneaked some counting and as a part of the joy, Nathan didn’t realise he is learning to count. It was a win-win for both of us.

This page says to shake the book and it was fun when the dots were moving all over the pages.

We enjoyed the colour mixing page and we had a little talk about primary and secondary colours.

Want to do it all over again?

The book ends with a note do you love to play all over again and the loop continues untill Nathan is willing to stop reading the book.

Lots of colourful activities we can do, few ideas are,

  • Take some pom pom and try replicating the patterns
  • Mix two primary colours and understand about secondary colours
  • Make colourful dots using a dot marker
  • Make patterns with colour pompoms or magnetic chips or dot stickers
  • Trace lines using dot markers or dot stickers

You can do DIY of this, too. I started doing the DIY version, but I got the book at a very less price during a sale and stopped my DIY.

Enjoy this brilliant book with your little one’s and get ready for many giggles.
