The God who makes it possible and ready

He enabled her to conceive. Genesis 29:31(NIV) He opened her womb Genesis 29:31(KJV)

The verse above contains an intriguing use of language. Both translations offer an interesting perspective to consider. “Enable” signifies the act of making something possible, while “open” implies that it is ready after a verb.

In Genesis 29, we learn about Jacob marrying Leah and Rachel. Although Jacob loved Rachel, she was unable to conceive. Despite Jacob’s lesser love for Leah, God allowed Leah to conceive by opening her womb. This chapter explains that humans are not capable of conceiving or giving birth to children on their own. It is God who grants us the ability and opens our wombs to conceive.

I felt a strong sense of curiosity and decided to delve into the reproductive system. I was fascinated by the intricate workings of the womb. Upon fertilization, the womb opens and then closes as the baby grows inside. Finally, as the baby prepares to be born, the womb opens once again. It’s truly amazing! Doesn’t God, who created each organ with such intricate care, doesn’t he know when we are in need of a blessing?

Take a glance at our lives. How many times have each of us thought and spoken ill of a woman who has not yet borne children?        Genesis 30:1,2 says, Rachel said to Jacob, “Give me children, or I’ll die!” Jacob became angry with her and said, “Am I in the place of God, who has kept you from having children?” It is not the woman’s fault that she cannot bear a child. The ability to conceive is ultimately determined by God and is beyond her control.

At times, God chooses to close a woman’s womb, so that she may seek Him more and become solely dependent on Him. This ultimately brings glory to His name. For instance, Rachel’s children included Joseph, who became Israel and led a great nation. When Hannah’s womb was opened, she gave birth to the Prophet Samuel. Sarah’s womb was also opened after she thought her generation was over, resulting in the birth of Isaac, who grew into a promised child and a great nation.

If you’re reading this message, please know that it’s not your fault if you haven’t been able to have a child yet. The God of breakthroughs is waiting for the perfect timing to bring forth a greater generation through you. The path you’re on is tough, but the end result will be fruitful. Don’t lose hope, keep praying and your generation will bring glory to God.

If you know any women who are struggling to conceive, consider praying for them. Your prayer might have the power to open up their wombs and allow God to bless them with a child.
