Hello, Lighthouse is a beautifully illustrated book by Sophie Blackall.
Nathan didn’t warm up to this book at first, but one episode of paw control made him love this book. This is the story of a lighthouse keeper who lives inside a lighthouse during all seasons. We see the lighthouse standing majestically despite the changing seasons, drifting icebergs, foggy mornings and high tides. The lightkeeper lives with his family and he never forgets to log anything in his logbook. He does different activities inside the lighthouse and has his family give him company when he is lonely. But one day the coast guard decides to replace the lightkeeper with a big light, which forces the lightkeeper to close his log and bid adieu to the lighthouse. Even when technology changes in the lighthouse, it still guides the ships safely to the harbour.
This is such an intriguing book I came across and it gives detailed information about a lighthouse and a lightkeeper. I loved Sophie’s illustrations and what a mesmerizing book this was. Nathan and I enjoyed this read so much that we are waiting for the lighthouse to open for visitors now.
This book revolves around the life of a lighthouse keeper, and it tells how he spends his day and how he raises his family inside the tiny rooms. One can find all the activities the lightkeeper does, and also how his wife supports him during the time he falls sick. It also says how he gets oil and food from a ship every month.
End of the book, there’s author notes about the lighthouse and how we can explore them is also mentioned. The author has done good research and came out with this beautiful book.
I recommend this book to every home library, and it’s a read for all ages. I learned a lot of new things from this book and went awe by this book.
