This book talks beautifully about a child who feels loved, even when their favourite person is not near them. Under the Love, Umbrella is like a big, warm, reassuring hug from someone you love most in the world.

This story walks us through four different kids through difficult times, as the narrator describes the “love umbrella” which is above each of them. The four children Joe, Brian, Grace, and Izzy, are introduced opposite the title page, asking readers to count the umbrellas they find. They face scary shadows, friends that don’t share, shyness, feeling lost, sadness, moving houses, a lost tooth, and a parent that’s rushing them. No matter what happens, no worries can last under a love umbrella; it protects them.

It’s a heartening book for children venturing out into the world each day, and the final question, ‘Who’s under your love umbrella?’, is a glorious opportunity to talk about the family and friends who love us most.

“Whatever you fear, come close my dear
You’re tucked in safe for always here
And I will never not be near
Because of our love umbrella”

A book filled with a strong message and packed with gorgeous illustrations. A must-have book in your home library and I am sure this book can prepare any child who struggles with big emotions.
