Last night was rough, so dejected I went to bed and woke up to a beautiful read in my daily bread. Still, my thoughts were not clear and Youtube music played the song by Louis Armstrong, ‘What a wonderful world’ (I was listening to a lot of 80s music lately) The lyrics were so good and google said there is a book with the same name. I, being a collector of books, had this on my bookshelf. Each line spoke to me how to appreciate everything around me.
The book starts with a beautiful line: I see trees of green’. Yes, those green things are all around us and they bloom just for us. As each line goes, it appreciates the nature and people around us and makes us think what a wonderful world we have.
Hopgood’s illustrations are always vibrant, and he has done beautiful work in this book. Each lyric is drawn on a page, and young kids can understand it well. I really look forward to reading this book to Nathan at a right time and he can learn to appreciate things around him.
If I want to forget about my last night mishap, I should swallow my pride or I should think of a new perspective to my own life. I rarely write things about me, but sometimes you have to put words here to feel better. Hopefully, the next time I am reading this review, I feel better. If you love 80s music, pick this book and treasure it with your kids. It may act as a reminder to you when you are having a rough day.
