Goat’s Coat features Alfonzo, a kind goat who just adores his new coat. He went out for a walk on his new coat on a cold evening. While he is walking, he hears different sounds of help from different animals. He hears a frog family, a cat, a hedgehog, a hen, and a few more. The only solution to solve their problem will be to share the fabric from his coat. Do you think Alfonzo will share his new coat and help the troubled animals?

I love Tom Percival’s books for their illustrations and also for a warming message at the end of the book he shares with the readers. Goat’s coat was such a heartwarming book that emphasis on gratitude, sharing, helpfulness, kindness, and caring for others. I love the message he emphasised for all ages and it’s always a reminder for us, no matter what happens, do good and it will always follow you.

While I was writing this portion, I had a chat with my mom on call. We had a few exchanges and I was telling her how a person got all help from me and she ditched me at last when I needed her help. She was hearing everything and later told me how are you towards God? You feel sad for a man who is a metaphor to grass in the bible, ditched you, and didn’t you do things that are unpleasant to God? This made me think I am so selfish and I need God only when I am in trouble and all other days I just have a small conversation with him. If he can forgive me and look into me with that amazing grace, why can’t I forgive the humans?

I know it’s really hard, we all are not perfect like God, but we can try to put across our ego and be in harmony with others. Maybe we cannot be like Alfonzo, to give out every piece of fabric to others, but we can be good to others and have goodness towards us.

I enjoyed the illustrations along with the story and it’s a good book to add to your home library.
