BOOK: HOW MANY SQUIRRELS ARE IN THE WORLD?
AUTHOR: BEN GUNDERSHEIMER
ILLUSTRATOR: MARCOS ALMADA RIVERO
PUBLISHER: NANCY PAULSEN BOOKS
PAGES: 32
AGE RECOMMENDED: 3+
A curious little girl wanted to know how many squirrels there were in the whole wide world. But she and her dog decided to notice how many squirrels there were outside in the yard. Armed with a notebook, the girl begins to count the squirrels high and low and notices where they like to hang out, while her dog delights in chasing them. They venture to a local park, where they see even more. When the girl counts up to twenty, she questions how many squirrels there must be in the world, but is tired of counting them. Will she be able to keep track of this pesky creature?
A humorous counting book for children who start to count first numbers. A versatile book that can be read by a young child to a kindergartner who is learning to spell words. There is a page of squirrel facts at the end, including the information that National Squirrel Appreciation Day is January 21!
I love the bright artwork on each page and the illustrator has given different colours to the squirrels rather than sticking with the boring brown colour. If you can look closer at each illustration, you can find squirrels jumping from one branch to another, chasing one another, and collecting nuts.
The book is releasing on February 14 around the world and you can pre-order the book now if you are residing in the USA.
I received this digital copy of the book from the author’s team for my honest review in return.
