Grover, a donkey, and Steve, an ostrich, are two different animals living on the Great Plains. Despite their differences, they learned to embrace and appreciate each other’s uniqueness and became great friends. However, not all the other animals on the Great Plains are happy about their friendship, especially Grover’s fellow donkeys, who make fun of him. But Grover and Steve don’t let this discourage them. They’re determined to maintain their friendship, no matter what. Even when the other donkeys kicked Grover out of their herd for his friendship with Steve, they remained loyal to each other.

One day, something unexpected occurred on the Great Plains. Chaos and loud noises erupted throughout the region. Startled by the commotion, Steve and Grover rushed towards the source of the disturbance, determined to help their fellow animals in distress. Little did anyone expect that Grover and Steve would be the ones to save the day. Their determination taught a valuable lesson to their fellow animals, who later cherished their friendship.

A great book with an engaging narrative for children who are new to school and are struggling to adjust to their new environment. The author effectively portrays the enduring friendship between the two friends, which adds depth to the story. While the illustrations could have been more vibrant, the storyline is effectively conveyed.
