DAY 22 MARY

I am the LORD’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Luke 1: 38

And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
    holy is his name.
His mercy extends to those who fear him,
    from generation to generation.
He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
    remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”

Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.

Luke 1: 46-56

Mary, who was a virgin, was chosen for the birth of Jesus. When the Angel of God came to deliver the good news, she was in mixed emotions. Then she accepted that and said, may the will of god happen. Later, she sang a song of praise. It’s a beautiful song of praise and still, we sing them in church.

We chose to read A little Christmas Tree.

A story of a fir tree who helped others in trouble. A big storm hit the forest that night and the proud trees oak, sycamore and birch trees said they won’t fall. The little fir tree said I would shelter all the animals during the storm. When the storm passed all the proud trees fell and were washed away. But the little fir tree stood still and the animals who were under it were safe. The author takes us to the other side of town, where that very night a baby was born in a manger and angels were singing the song of praise. Eventually, a shining star was passing over the forest and found solace in the fir tree. The fir tree earned a star for his compassion.

A well-illustrated book with a beautiful message for Christmas.
