DAY: 8 SHEEP
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 53.6
I love this verse, how God chooses to take away our clutches of sin by sending his only son to save us. Similarly, the shepherd gives his life to the sheep to save them. There are a lot of examples in the Bible about the sheep and the shepherd. Sheep are smelly, weak and stray quickly without a shepherd’s care. Sheep will follow almost anything that moves a human—another sheep, even a rogue sheep who will lead them astray. Shepherds lead, protect, defend, nurture, and comfort the flock. We all need a shepherd who nurtures us and thus we get an almighty father who cares for us more than the shepherd.
We chose to read The polar bear who saved Christmas.
It’s a story of a polar bear named Pip. He was sleeping with his mom in a cosy den and heard a jingle sound: he wandered and got lost to find himself near Santa’s workshop. He finds that disaster has struck as one reindeer has broken his leg and the elves are about to cancel Christmas. With time running out to deliver Santa’s gifts, will Pip save Christmas and return to his mother to celebrate Christmas?
A beautifully illustrated Christmas tale told Magically, just like the bear, flew from rooftop to rooftop with a bit of magic dust.
