DAY 19 MYRHH

And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.

John 19: 39

And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.

Mark 15:23

Myrrh is a fragrant spice derived from the sap of a tree native to the near east. Myrrh is not a typical gift given to a newborn, as it’s used for the dead body, in the form of perfume or mixed with wine and used as a painkiller. Myrhh should have been gifted as it fulfilled the prophecy of the prophets and also signified the death of Jesus on the cross.

We read The stinky Sprouts.

It’s a funny story about smelly sprouts. In a kitchen, all the veggies are playing and they never allow sprouts to play with them due to their smelly nature. So little sprouts made a plan and they all jumped in cranberry juice and became colourful and had a pleasant smell. Now all the veggies started to play with them, not realizing they were the same sprouts until a huge disaster took place in the kitchen. Will the veggies accept the sprouts even after the disaster?

The author gave a beautiful message at the end of the story. Imagine we are in a school or college or in a workplace—we are leaving a person because they don’t fit us. Do you think they will be happy? How do we feel when we are in that situation? Think for a moment and let’s come forward this Christmas to practice kindness and not be like bitter myrrh inside in our hearts.
